A rare handwoven linen and cotton fabric, designed exclusively for special collections and inspired by the rushing movement of a waterfall. Its deep, three-dimensional texture comes from a process few weavers still follow: the yarn is dyed first, then we twist it ourselves, and only once it has been twisted is the yarn ready for the loom.

The only patterned piece in the range. While our other textured fabrics are woven in plain colors, this one is woven with a pattern: crisp white stripes run through a deep indigo blue ground. The indigo is yarn dyed, and the white stripes are part of the weave itself – not printed – so the pattern is as dimensional as the texture around it.

How it is made

Dyed, then twisted by us: the yarn is dyed first and twisted afterwards in our own workshop, before it ever reaches the loom – a rare step that creates the fabric's sculptural, cascading surface.
Woven with traditional techniques: our looms produce no more than about 70 meters a week.
No chemical softeners: after weaving, the fabric is simply home-washed and generously steamed. Its softness comes from the linen and cotton themselves, leaving a natural, breathable fabric that only gets softer with time.

Ordering

Sold by the meter (39.4 in, about 1.09 yd), so it's as easy to order as fabric by the yard. Multiple meters are cut as one continuous length. Because production is limited, large quantities may need extra lead time – contact us for bulk orders.

Uses

Designer and capsule collections, resort and beachwear, kimonos and kaftans, summer dresses, shirts, shawls and scarves. Its open weave calls for careful finishing of seams.

Care

Wash in cold water only and line dry. Steam to refresh. The texture becomes more pronounced with washing; allow for up to 5% shrinkage.
